I have been working as a mental health nurse within the NHS for the past 10 years, a nurse was all I wanted to be since I was 16.

Then I fell pregnant and gave birth to my beautiful son Jacob 7 weeks early, boy how my whole perspective in life has changed. I started working more family friendly hours for a better work life balance then 18months in I went through the heartbreak of a separation and practically rebuild my life from scratch. I appreciate every single moment with Jacob even more so now, as I have gone from spending every single day with my baby to now sharing the time co-parenting. Since the separation I have worked all my hours around my allocated days and childcare, this was a big part of what helped me through the separation and having days/nights without my baby 💔

I came across this opportunity at exactly the right time for me, I was feeling exhausted, burnt out, unable to reduce my hours at work and be in the same financial situation.. so I felt incredibly stuck.

I also knew that I had a year before Jacob starts school and I want to be able to pick him up, drop him off, watch his afterschool activities etc and just be fully present, not burning myself out with understaffing and constant pressure. I don’t know if I will ever have anymore children so I want to be there for everything with Jacob 🩵

That’s when I said yes to this opportunity, I don’t feel stuck with the thought of being a nurse until I am 68, which is a shocking revelation after this being my childhood dream.

But now my dream is creating a life where I have time to give my all to my son, whilst feeling calm less stressed and burnt out. I have more flexibility working 2-3 hours a day from home whilst gaining financial stability and freedom. All with the backing and support of the best community, being around such positivity and kindness has been something special 🤍
